Mother Luigia Cucciardi is now in the Carmel of Heaven!
Just one day short of Mother’s Day, she passed on to eternal life. She has spent sixty-one, yes 61 years in the Cloistered Carmel of Cospicua. An amazing life of hiddenness and joy.
She joined Carmel at the age of 24 and died when she was 85! Various times she led the community of Cospicua as prioress. Gifted with a bright mind and a tender heart she was able to guide the Sisters for many many years.
As Saint John of the Cross aptly wrote “In the inner stillness where meditation leads, the Spirit secretly anoints the soul and heals our deepest wounds”. Mother Luigia is a living example of this truth.
She loved our Saints and we are certain that our Holy Mother embraced her at the doors of heaven.
The numerous people and priests which crowded the Chapel of Santa Margerita for her funeral mass, led by Rev. Father Adrian Attard, Vicar Provincial manifested the love which surrounded Mather Luigia. Rev. Father Martin Borg OCD gave the homily. Father Juan Debono, who happened to be in Canada for pastoral reasons, sent a voice message on the phone just at the end of the mass.
