Recently, between the 29th of January and the 2nd of February, a meeting of Discalced Carmelite formators took place at the Teresianum in Rome. Its central topic was: “The world of the youth of today”.
Our provincial, Father Juan Debono, was one of the main organizers of this meeting. This topic was developed by means of three conferences, after each of which the assembly worked in groups.
Giving the conferences were Fr Gianni Bracchi from northern Italy, Professor Dr. D Antonio Belleringreri from the University of Palermo and Fr Maximiliano Herráiz from Spain.
During their stay, the formators had the opportunity to get to know what the Teresianum has to offer academically as well as how the St John of the Cross International College functions.
One of the main items discussed was the possibility of establishing a stage of “second novitiate” in Spain for our students, to take place at the finish of their theological studies; the aim would be to have a deeper immersion in the charism handed down to us by St Teresa and St John of the Cross.
